Bonding Tour tomorrow!!!

Everyone is so excited for Bonding Tour tomorrow!!  We'll leave school at 8am and return around 2 or 3 on Wednesday...I'll keep parents posted!  There is little or no cell reception there so please leave phones at home.  Children may bring cameras but I will have mine and will take many pics!  I don't want anyones time to be ruined by losing expensive gadgets!  PLEASE!  I have lost my own camera there before when I participated in the activities so be warned.  We'll call it 1 day without cellphones!  Im sure nobody will die.  Pack a warm jersey in case...you never know what this weather is doing.

Sharks visit

The Prep were pleasantly surprised by a visit from Sharks captain Bismarck Du Plessis and Monde Hadebe this morning.  Lots of excitement all around.  Everyone got autographs and a free ticket to the next match!  GO SHARKS!!

Some recipe ideas!

Avo and Chicken wrap

Mash an avocado with lemon juice, then spread on a whole wheat wrap. Top with strips of grilled/roast chicken, chopped tomatoes, and thinly sliced lettuce......and maybe a bit of cheese.
Roll up and wrap in parchment or wax paper to secure.

Turkey Salad Rolls

Combine diced smoked turkey/chicken, toasted almonds, halved seedless red grapes, thinly sliced celery and mayonnaise. Transfer to an airtight container; pack with a whole wheat hot dog bun for your talented kid to assemble. Or not

Wholewheat pancakes
Prepare a batch of whole wheat pancake batter, using about 1/2 the liquid. Stir in a cup thawed frozen corn, one small grated zucchini and a handful of Parmesan.
The zucchini will add moisture; add more liquid if the batter is too stiff. Cook until golden, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Pack with Greek yogurt for dipping.

Turkey-Cheese Pita Pockets

Spread a low-fat creamy cheese inside a whole wheat pita, then fill with roast turkey/chicken slices, baby spinach leaves and cucumber slices.

Barbecue Chicken Sloppy Joes

Toss chopped tomatoes and shredded rotisserie chicken and carrots with barbecue sauce and heat through. Toss the mixture with chopped cilantro or parsley and transfer to an airtight container. Pack with a whole wheat hamburger bun for assembly at lunch.

Chips and Dips

Combine chopped fresh tomatoes, lime juice, finely chopped white onion and chopped fresh cilantro. Pack flaxseed tortilla chips with small containers of the salsa, avocados mashed with lemon juice, and Greek yogurt.

 Waldorf Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Combine shredded rotisserie chicken, chopped apples and celery, walnuts, raisins, and mayonnaise. Spread the cut side of a split whole wheat hamburger bun with mayonnaise and assemble the sandwich using the chicken salad and butter lettuce leaves.
